Hope for the best, plan for the worst...

Medical Insurance:

Sackler offers an insurance plan called FEMI. If you want to see a doctor, you call the provider (*5688 or 03-568-8888) and they tell you who can see you. There's a FEMI doctor on campus a few hours per week. There's another few in the area, including the Ramat Aviv Mall.

We don't have a co-payment for visiting a doctor or the emergency room. Some prescriptions are covered, if approved by FEMI. They cover all emergencies, with the exception of sports and automobile accidents. If you hurt yourself in the gym, the gym's insurance will cover you. If you are involved in a car accident, then the automobile insurance will cover you. And in the cases of the drivers being uninsured, Israel has a special fund set up for such cases.

FEMI will also provide emergency coverage while you are traveling outside of Israel. For more information on this contact FEMI directly. FEMI also provides coverage for dental emergencies, but not for optional dental treatment.

The phone number for FEMI is 03-568-8888.

Emergencies:
In case of a medical emergency: Call an ambulance at 101 and you'll deal with FEMI retroactively.
In case of a medical urgency: Call FEMI, arrange for a confirmation number to be seen in an emergency department, take a taxi to a hospital. Save the cab receipt and you'll be able to file for travel reimbursements.

In cases of needle pricks or other work related injuries, go to the hospital's emergency department and carry out whatever procedures are necessary. Collect all the paperwork, including the incident and hospital reports, and bring it to the office of student affairs. You will have to fill out some paperwork and be responsible for most of the fees.

Local Pharmacies:
Neve Avivim Pharmacy - Yehudah Ha-Nassi 34, 03-641-0411

Super-PharmTagore 32, 03-641-1666
Super-Pharm - Ahimeir 1, 03-641-7117
Super-Pharm - Einstein 40 (Ramat Aviv Mall), 03-641-3730

Flu shots: Call a FEMI doctor and obtain a prescription. Go to any local pharmacy and purchase the vaccine with your prescription, the vaccine is not covered by the insurance. Then you can bring the vaccine to any FEMI doctor and they will administer it for you.

Keep in mind that students in the hospitals may ask their preceptors regarding flu shots. Some departments offer and others don't.

Dental Care:
FEMI covers some urgent dental care.

Other options include paying a visit to the Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine on campus. The treatments are cheap, but take a while as you are worked on by students, however all work is checked and corrected by experts. Procedures may cost as little as 55₪. Call 03-640-9857 for an appointment, or walk in into the urgent care clinic on Sundays 8:30-9:30 or Thursdays 10:00 - 11:00.

Based on the Yahoo! groups discussions, there's also a Minveh clinic at Levanon 85, call them at 03-641-0691. Another suggestion is Dr. Eran Dolev at KKL 99, call him at 03-648-2923.

UPDATE: Recently recommended, Fermon Dental Center at 81 Sokolov Street in Ramat Hasharon, call them at 03-547-0755.
